BD150 Bench

The BD150 Bench, built in collaboration with Studio Gest, combines durability, functionality, and refined simplicity. The piece is constructed from three cast concrete legs that support a single Douglas fir beam, carefully bevelled at the top. This beam carries three pairs of slats, which in turn hold two wide planks forming the seating surface.

Engineered with longevity in mind, the wooden beam is lifted from the ground by the concrete blocks, allowing it to ventilate naturally and reduce the risk of wood rot. The seating planks shield the beam from sun and rain, while the beveled top ensures that any water falling between the planks flows off easily, preventing pooling. A water-resistant layer separates the concrete and wood, while the two are joined with a threaded rod and nut to maintain a demountable connection.

To complement its structure, the bench is designed to fit a series of 50×50 cm cushions—three in total—completing the rhythm of threes: three concrete legs, three sets of slats, and three cushions. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, the BD150 Bench can be produced in different wood types upon request. Pricing is available on inquiry.
